The Accidental
Fart Ghost
This little spirit started as a redemption project after my first ghost sculpture crumbled apart. I wanted something simple, solid, and full of character—and somehow it turned into a ghost that looked mid-fart and startled by it. I couldn’t have planned it better if I tried. Sometimes the clay just decides the story for you.

A Shock to the System
I began by forming a squat, sheet-like shape and added a tiny pumpkin companion for balance. As the folds took form, the ghost’s expression started to appear—wide-eyed, confused, and maybe a little embarrassed. The clay dried smoother this time, and I managed to keep its hollow base intact without another collapse. Small victories.

Caught in
the Act
Once painted, the ghost really came to life—its glossy white finish gave it that “freshly shartled” look, while the metallic pumpkin added a mischievous glint. The final touch was glowing eyes, which made it look like it had just surprised itself. It’s equal parts spooky and silly, which feels exactly right for the season.

Not every piece needs to be serious to be successful. This goofy little ghost taught me to let go of perfection and enjoy the process—cracks, quirks, and unexpected gas-related expressions included. It’s now one of my favorite accidental creations.
